Mission Statements

Does a mission statement matter? How does it help a business or does it?

Yes, mission statements do matter because it lets the consumers/customers know what your organization is about, who you are marketing your organization to, your distinction and your contribution. It gets the public the idea of how your business is run (to some degree). So yes, businesses do need a mission statement because it is pretty much the summary of what your organization provides.

  2. A mission statement does matter in a business because it leads the business and its employees. It helps the business by giving it a goal to work towards and is something that can motivate their employees to aim for the best result to better the business. It can also makes the businesses employees more determined to reach that goal/mission statement.

  4. Yes a mission statement matters. It matters because it states and represents the overall goal(s) of the organization. I helps a business because it clearly outlines the products/services customers, employees, society, and shareholer for all levels of the organization to understand.

  7. A mission statement does matter to a business, it acts as a reminder to the company for the goal they are trying to accomplish. It helps the people involved recognize the big picture they set to reach. The mission statement outlines the key market, the distinction, and the contribution of the organization.

I believe mission statements are very important because consumers, customers, shareholders, stakeholders, and investors want to know exactly in mind what your plans are for the future and what you provide with your company. People want to know if that your contribution to society is a good thing, and what your priorities are (customer service, speed, friendliness, etc.) so they can distinguish you from other companies by what you want to achieve and what you find important along the way. A mission statement talking about satisfying the customer versus a mission statement talking about making the most money they can will always be first choice compared to the money statement.

A mission statement helps a company does it because a mission statement basically represent awhole company. If its a catchy, interesting, and effective mission statement, people will remember and people will choose your company, apart from others.

They may also set a standard for an organization and explain how they plan on achieving that standard. Businesses can find it beneficial to have a mission statement because it has the ability to strengthen the morale of the employees, and allows them to work towards the general goal and vision of the business.

  14. The mission statement is very important to both the company and the customer/public. These statements can be to define what the company stands for but also can be used for sub projects and or promotions that the company might be marketing at the time. The mission statements from a company can be a deciding reason for customers to chose to purchase or be associated with a given company. Core values which can be made through mission statements are important also to the the employees who help shape and grow the company so it is most vital to make these statements and back them up.

  15. I believe a mission statement does matter because describes why the company exists and what it seeks to accomplish (the company's purpose for existence). When looking at which company to purchase from you want to look for something that explains who they are, their products/services, what the company is contributing to society and you want to know if the product is right for you. A good mission statement has all of this information in a couple of sentences or so. It is a great way to help a business.
